What, where, and how is Huns Garden operate?
Huns Garden is an all natural farm (use very little to no irrigation) that is operated by Chaxamone Lor, whom grow specialty vegetables and herbs. Huns Garden is operates on a small plot located on the foot hill of Argentine in urban Kansas City, Kansas. We grows specialty vegetables that have medicinal values, as well as other Asian greens that are hard to find. Huns Garden serves a diverse customer base including immigrants from Africa, the Middle East, South America, the Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific Islands, as well as locals interested in healthy eating.
Ms. Lor moved to Kansas City from Fresno, California, where they've had extensive experience in growing specialty vegetables and herbs since 1984. In Kansas City, they have found a large demand for their specialty vegetables, and are working to find ways to increase production and extend the production season to meet the demands of their customers.
What is Growing There?
Our growing seasons we will offer the following fruits and vegetables:
Herbs: Dills, Cilantro, Basils, Lemon Grass, Sage, Mints, Basils (Thai Sweet Basil, Thai bai ka prow or (holy) basil (green and bicolor), Lemon basil, Italian basil, and Purple basils), Garlic Chives, Onions (red hamburger onion, yellow sweet onion, and white onion.
Greens: Arugulas, Spinach, Africa Spinach, Mustard Greens, Yu Choy Sum, Baby Bock Choy, Squash shoot, Mizuna, Collard green, Snow pea leaves, snow peas pods, Sugar snap peas, Fresh green Beans, Asian Purple, Green & Red yard long bean.
Roots Crops: Radishes, Beets, Fresh Ginger Roots, Potatoes, sweat potatoes
Fruits: Italian Gourds, Japanese Eggplant & American Eggplant, Bitter Melon, Edible Luffa, Zucchinis fruit and Zucchini Flowers, Cucumbers, Tomatoes
Peppers: Thai chili peppers (supper hot, medusa, mini-chili)
Fresh cut flowers: Cut flowers are available during late spring thru fall. The flowers we have on the field are Tulips, Peony, Lilies, Iris, Gladiolus,Cosmos, Dahlias, Zinnias, Sunflowers and other mid-west wild flowers.
